Morning after breakfast transfer to airport for flight to Guwahati. Arrive Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport. Greeted by representative and transferred to hotel. Guwahati is the gateway to the entire Northeast region of India. Welcome dinner at a specialty restaurant. Overnight stay at hotel.
Morning sightseeing of Guwahati. Visit the famous Kamakhya Temple, State Museum (closed Mondays), Basistha Temple, and Srimanta Shankerdev Kalashetra — a multi-art complex portraying the rich cultural diversity of Assam and the North East, named after the greatest Vaishnava saint Srimanta Shankerdeva. Overnight stay at hotel.
Morning drive to Kaziranga National Park. On arrival check-in at lodge. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight stay at lodge.
Early morning elephant ride through the park (1 hour) to appreciate the famous one-horned rhino, wild elephants, swamp deer, sambar, hog deer, and more. After breakfast, jeep safari through the Central Range — passing through all habitat types with chances of spotting elephants and mega herbivores. Afternoon jeep safari in the Western Range, which has maximum short grass and is the optimum habitat for rhino and water buffalo. Dinner and overnight at lodge.
Morning drive to Neemati Ghat (135 km / 3 hrs) for ferry to Majuli — one of the biggest inhabited river islands in the world, nestled between the Subansiri and Brahmaputra rivers (1.5 hr downstream boat cruise). Visit the famous Satras (Vaishnavite monasteries) of Majuli, established by Srimanta Shankerdev in the 16th century, nurturing the Satriya dance, music, mask-making, and religious teachings. Evening walk around a Mishing tribal village. Overnight stay at Mishing Chang.
Morning ferry back to Neemati Ghat (2 hrs), then drive to Sibsagar (55 km / 1 hr) — the ancient capital of the Ahom rulers who governed Assam for 600 years. Explore Ranghar, Talatalghar, and Siva Dol. After lunch, drive to Dibrugarh, the main tea town of Upper Assam. Check-in and overnight stay at hotel.
Morning after breakfast check out and drive to Dibrugarh Airport for flight to Delhi. Arrive Delhi, greeted by representative and transferred to hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay at hotel.
Morning city tour: India Gate, Parliament House. Afternoon Old Delhi tour: Jama Masjid, Red Fort, Gandhi Memorial. Evening transfer to international airport for onward destination.
